Michael Brewster

Michael Brewster is the British Horror Studio’s chief cinematographer, working across feature films, studio portraiture and visual effects.

His cinematography credits include The Black Gloves, The Slave and the Sorcerer, In the Grip of Terror, The Reign of Queen Ginnarra, Black Chariot and The Vance Institute. His approach draws on classical lighting and Hollywood glamour photography, particularly the work of George Hurrell.

Alongside digital cinema production, Brewster works with vintage photographic equipment to create portraits for the studio’s actors. His visual effects work includes modelling, animation, simulation and digital environments, connecting photography with the practical requirements of post-production.

He shared the 2025 Romford Horror Festival award for Best SFX with Lawrie Brewster for The Reign of Queen Ginnarra. The film also brought him Best Cinematography at the 2025 Glowflare Horror Film Festival.
